Belgium have secured a spot in the last 16 of the Euro 2020 following a 2-1 victory over Denmark in a match staged at Parken on Thursday afternoon.
Denmark had a bright start to the match and took the lead inside two minutes of play. Belgium had a terrible mistake at the back by Denayer as he gifted the ball straight to Hojbjerg. Within a blink of an eye, the Soton ace found Poulsen on the edge of the box, who finished expertly into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
At the start of the second half, Belgium drew level again the run of play through Thorgan Hazard. Romelu Lukaku had the ball on the right before searching for Kevin De Bruyne inside the box. The Manchester City midfielder picked out the run of the unmarked Hazard, who could not miss from six yards out.
In the 70th minute, Belgium took the lead after some sensational one-touch football in and around Denmark’s box. De Bruyne took a shot from 25 yards out on the left of the area and the Kasper Schmeichel was beaten for the second time.
Denmark are winless in their two opening matches after losing the first game to Finland while Belgium have a 100% record start to this year’s tournament.
