US President Joe Biden on Friday introduced his intent to appoint Indian-American civil rights lawyer and labour advocate Seema Nanda for the publish of Solicitor of the Division of Labour.
“At the moment (Friday), President Joe Biden introduced his intent to appoint Seema Nanda for Solicitor of the Division of Labour,” the White Home mentioned in a press release.
Ms Nanda served as Chief of Workers, Deputy Chief of Workers and Deputy Solicitor on the US Division of Labour within the Obama-Biden administration.
Earlier, she spent over 15 years in varied roles as a labour and employment lawyer, principally in authorities service.
Ms Nanda led the now named Workplace of Immigrant and Worker Rights Part of the US Justice Division’s Civil Rights Division the place she served as a supervisor lawyer within the Division of Recommendation on the Nationwide Labour Relations Board, and labored as an affiliate in non-public apply in Seattle.
After the Obama-Biden administration, Ms Nanda led the Democratic Nationwide Committee as CEO and served as COO and Govt Vice President on the Management Convention on Civil and Human Rights.
Ms Nanda is presently a fellow at Harvard Regulation Faculty’s Labour and Worklife Programme.
She grew up in Connecticut and is a graduate of Brown College and Boston Faculty Regulation Faculty.
