The EURO 2020 tournament lived up to expectations, serving football fans with unmatched entertainment on and off the pitch.
Premier League stars played their part, with a total of 23 players contracted to 2021/22 clubs making it to the final at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
From the 23 in the final match between Italy and England, four of those, Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, Jorginho, and Raheem Sterling were named in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament.
Jorginho and Emerson, both playing for Chelsea, were the only Premier League stars to lift the crown, with 21, all featuring for England suffering heartbreak.
The Blues midfielder was arguably one of the standout performers of the tournament, leading the way for a number of statistics.
He made the joint-most ball recoveries (46), won the most fouls (18), played the most minutes of any outfield player (705), and set a record for the most interceptions made at a single European Championship tournament (25).
Jorginho also covered more distance, 86.6 kilometres, than any other player in the competition, narrowly beating England and Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips, who clocked 83km.
Phillips, who vindicated his selection with top performance also won the joint-most tackles of all players, being successful with nine of his 13 attempts.
Still, in the England camp, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford kept the most clean sheets of the tournament, five, while Sterling topped the most dribbles charts.

Harry Kane finished second in the top scorers’ chart with four goals, one behind the winner, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
He however scored the most headed goals, two, and had two assists, one behind teammate Hojbjerg and Luke Shaw.
